=== Important BIOS/UEFI configuration notes ===
In order for RTAI to properly function, you must disable several
important features in BIOS/UEFI. This list is not complete as
every board is different, but the main ones to disable are:
Hyperthreading:
HT/SMT
Power savings:
C1E, C1-C8, idle/sleep states, ECO-friendly options,
hibernate/suspend, AMD Cool'n'Quiet, frequency scaling,
CPU speed governing, auto/dynamic CPU clock (set to manual instead,
force factory CPU clock speed)
Virtualization:
VT/VT-d/VT-x, AMD-V/Vi, SVM
Other options to disable:
IOMMU, Fast boot, SR-IOV, Secure Boot/Trusted Boot,
TXT (Trusted Execution Technology) SMAP (Supervisor Mode Access
Prevention) Turbo Boost / CPU Turbo / CPB (Core Performance Boost)
AMD ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration)
For Ryzen systems:
In one of the power settings, there is an option between
"Low current idle" or "auto" and this must be set to
"Typical current idle" instead.
If you see any options related to the above listed, fully
_DISABLE_ all of them. The idea is to never have the CPU
change speeds under any cicumstance, or ever sleep.
